So we put the phone on speaker and sang to the out of town family while we lit the candles! It was fun, especially telling the people on the other end what their virtual presents would have been if there really were presents for them here. The whole holiday is so different from Christmas, but most people don't know that. It's not supposed to be like Christmas, and it's is really a minor holiday for us Jewish folks. The gifts are small and not usually expensive, although some families go all out. This year we decided that our dog should have a nice bright smile so we are getting his teeth cleaned for Chanukah, how's that for a gift?
